Basking in the Sweater Weather

Nine Months

Even the Sky Rejoices

I celebrated my nine months’ Transiversary on the day the Presidential race was declared. People lined the streets dancing in joy all along Sunset Blvd., and all over Downtown Los Angeles. Had a quiet, distanced dinner with one of the friends that has supported me through my transition and carefully observed the festivities as a rainbow haloed over Los Angeles.

What’s been interesting is for the past two weeks, I’ve been gendered by strangers as “Ma’am”. I can’t even begin to describe how amazing it feels, yet not sure why it’s happening. I haven’t changed much about my look on my own, so it must come down to a combination of weight distribution and simply confidence from more experience. My pelvis is developing as much as my chest so I guess it might be noticeable to others. Is it the way I walk, without having to think about walking like a ‘tough guy’? Not sure but it’s nice to be seen as ME.

because trans lives matter…

It’s beginning to feel second nature to be me, Margaux. A couple weeks ago I performed onstage as Margaux for the first time with Master Artist, Calligrapher and Dancer Kuniharu Yohida. It was one of the most liberating experiences of my life. The hundreds of times before, I was an actor. This time I was a musician. At one point I was so in the moment I almost tranced out and fell over, yet on playback I still was right on the ‘one’!

Kuni’s work, entitled “Beautiful Autumn”. The Kanji character is ‘Beauty’.

So for my Transiversary, I’d hoped to wear a beautiful new dress for the occasion but it was far too cold and rainy:
